The father of Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jose Theodore was reportedly among those arrested in pre-dawn raids in Montreal on Wednesday in connection with a loan-sharking ring.
According to broadcast reports out of Montreal, Ted Nicolas Theodore, his brother and two of his sons were among 16 suspects arrested as part of Operation 'Arbitre', which has been underway for the past year.
There has been no indication that Jose Theodore was involved.
The investigation targeted crimes linked to loan sharking and death threats, operating primarily out of the Montreal Casino.
Montreal police are scheduled to provide further details of the arrests on Thursday.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in court September 20.
Theodore, a Hart trophy winner last year as the NHL's most valuable player, posted a 20-31-6 record and a goals against average of 2.89 in 57 games with the Canadiens this past season.
